Set up a regular one-on-one with a clear shape, real questions and written follow-through, so it stops being a status update with a chair.

A one-on-one is the only regular meeting where a team member gets you without an audience. Most managers hold them badly, or let them lapse when the roster gets busy. This lesson gives you a simple structure, questions that get past 'all good', a script for giving feedback, and a way to make sure something actually happens afterwards.
